ok, first for me i'm more willing to spend a fair amount of money, maximum of 4 or 500 dollars. I don't know much about what's good and what's not, so tried to do some research + reading reviews ect. So far I have my eye on the following guns: -2004 Piranha EForce EXT (http://www.paintballfirst.com/item.asp?n=134110&d=26&b=1) -PMI Piranha PRO TS G3 (http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/671/) -PMI Omen (http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/detail.aspx?ID=1186)..note this one is $450 bucks. i havent read any reviews on it yet - still looking them up. i just figured for that price it's probably really really good .. let me know if that is not the case. whatever the gun i'd also want to purchase a barrel, i was told www.lapcopaintball.com/ has good barrels. any input on the guns or barrels is appreciated. if there are better guns than the above i'd like to know abuot it. nothing above 4 or 500, and i'd rather it be easy maintainene. I opted out of getting the PRO TS G3 storm, simply because it's not water proof and you need to charge it. I'm mainly looking for light weight, easy maintainence, good quality, and accuracy above all else. my friend is new, and doesnt want to put a big investment into the sport, so i suggested this to him, but told him not to get it until i hear more from people knowledable in the sport: -Piranha BL VF (http://www.directpaintball.com/piranha_bl_paintball_gun.html)..also is this a decent price for the gun? www.paintballfanatics.com/category-exec/category_id/2610again, i'd probably have him get another barrel. thanks.

Buy and autococker that can be customized/ modified to fit you needs
Buy only dye, smart parts, and or check it barrels.
Find out were mid-atlantic paintball is. GO THERE!

The number one thing that you should do is A) Buy it from a local paintball store! B0 Buy Used from a place like ebay or pbnation. Youwill get more bang for your buck. However, if you are new to paintball, then YOU should most definately buy from a local store. Either Splat Sports in Bel Air or Mid-Atlantic Paintball in parkville. They can answer all of your questions first hand. You can hold the gun in your hands and see how it feels. They both also offer fantastic support after the sale. As a new player, chances are you are going to have all kinds of problems. Just general stuff that you don't understand when you first start out. The service at these two stores will provide all of the support that you will need. you will not regret it. After all of this, I suggest buying an 04/05 autococker. You can buy one for around $350. The autococker has been around since the begining of paintball & has a proven track record of reliability and quality. Best of all the the autococker can be completey customized and upgraded to a muppet mowing machine as your game continues to grow.l

k, cool, thanks for the tips.
my friend who plays paintball professionally in florida recommended getting a nerve shocker. very very expensive, but hey i've got money to blow. only having to pay 100 bucks/month rent will do that to you. i might not get the nerve shocker but probably a shock base. i wouldnt say i'm new to paintball, but i have never owned a gun before..which makes me a newbie in a lot of people's eyes, i know, but i have been quite a number of times.
again, thanks for the tips. i was giong to buy online, but considering the support offers i think i'll compare prices at a local store and probably buy from them.

yea dye sells good stuff, but their decent guns are expensive, such as the matrix and dm4. I suggest an impulse for the amount of money that your willing to spend.

For the money your spending ($450) it's better to just get either a used timmy (like a 2k2 on ebay) or an impulse.

If you want to spend 500$ I wouldnt get any of those guns you listed. They are all junk. If you want a reliable low end marker I would go with a spyder pilot. They are pretty quick too. They are about 200$ then get a crossfire tank. Another 200$ then get a egg2 loader 75$. There you have a decent gun with practically no maintnance.
