Ahhhh my home away from home. I have no idea why i'm on here right now. Just reading through some threads and it brought back sooooooo many memories. It's unbelievable how much i've learned not only in paintball but in life from this place. To the friends i've gained, i can't believe we all grew up. Lil Zach is in Florida for college. Stevie is at college park now, they just lost to duke today in basketball though. Jimmy is going to the Navy. Julian, playin lacrosse in canada and teaching at John Carol. Pat...still useless but a brother nonetheless. Nick Reese, Jimmy, greg, cory, eric, marc, and pat are all doing their own thing now. Dennis...i'd do just about anything to have you jump on our squad and run one more event. Your smile was contagious. Chewber is playin d1 ball now for assault. I cant believe i grew up playin with most of those kids even though i'm sure if you asked them they'd disown 40 in a new york minute. It's sad because without this place we would be nothing. Our lives would have been changed so drastically without 40. For better or for worse i dont know but i'm glad i can call it my home field stilll. Currently nick reese jim d and myself and messing around a little bit taking 1st at the gpl 3 man lol. All those drills and scrimmages tommy made us do at 8am in the rain, sleet, snow, hail, and heat showed their true value. If i could do it all over again i would have never quit for 3 years and tried to make a comeback. 40 will always be part of us, its imbedded in our minds and our hearts. It's truly a shame how much the world of paintball has changed. The only coaching we had was Mr. Tom calling us names and making sure we walked off the field bleeding every week. Now someone literally sits on the sideline and tells you what to do...its a joke. The rules a changing a little bit now but the 7 man NPPL were our glory days and its appears as if it is dying ever so quickly much like 15 and 10 man.
The new "40 kids" consist of a few 13-16 year old kids that enjoy paintball but will never have the drive we did. They'll never have the opportunity to have the 8am practices with 40-50 people there. I'll never forgot when tweeker had to stand next to the pole and we couldnt hit tweek and had to hit to pole otherwise...we ran. All those cliches about paintball with living as loud as want, being brothers, playing for glory actually seemed true about 40. Rarely was there drama between 40 guys that wasnt resolved within an hour or two.
There's so much to write it's crazy. Trying to cover about 9 years in 60,000 characters...yeah right.
i'll end my story here but know this, 40 is a place that will make or break you. You don't need turf, brand new fields, and all kinds of luxuries to be the best.
